Library services across the country are predicting 1,100 job cuts and £22.5m of cuts over the next year, a survey claims.
A report by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), issued on 4 December, reveals that 60% of town halls have already made reductions in library staff numbers or expect to make cuts in 2013/14.
