Microsoft has struck a deal with public sector bodies over the cost of new software licences. Buying Solutions announced the agreement, which could save the taxpayer £75m over the next five years. It will enable public sector bodies to buy licences at best price, rather than the standard package. Under the agreement, training and support will also be shared across the public sector. Angela Eagle, exchequer secretary to the Treasury, said: ‘The public sector must continually strive to become more innovative and collaborative in how it buys its goods and services.'
