A London borough dubbed the ‘Easy council' because of its low-cost outsourcing plans has been left with an unplanned £1.5m bill, after finding itself at the centre of another contracting failure, The MJ can reveal.
An internal report by Barnet LBC's deputy chief executive, Andrew Travers, confirms the borough – a flagship Conservative authority – provided former contractor, Connaught Partnership, with Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) ‘admitted body' status, prior to the firm's collapse in 2010.
