Former efficiency guru and Vertex chairman, Sir Peter Gershon, is adding another job to his collection, becoming chairman of sugar producer Tate & Lyle.
The former head of the Office of Government Commerce, who presided over the 2004 public sector efficiency review which bears his name, was last week back in the news when the chancellor, Alistair Darling, announced a further £5bn public sector efficiency target from 2010.
In October, in an exclusive interview with The MJ, Sir Peter said there was still ‘scope for significant efficiencies'. At the SOLACE conference, he was a panellist in a workshop hosted by The MJ and Vertex, as well as a keynote conference speaker on the impact of the credit crunch.
