A senior Commons select committee chairman has praised local government and called for its practices to be replicated across Whitehall.
Speaking at the launch of a report by consultant Deloitte, The state of the state 2012, Bernard Jenkin, chairman of the public administration select committee, said: ‘Cross-sector working in Whitehall is endemically bad. Non-executive directors of Whitehall are appalled at how risk-averse the civil service is.
