The new local government minister, John Healey, has rejected calls to postpone local government reorganisation. During questions at the LGA conference this week, he was urged by one delegate to halt reorganisation because it had been causing ‘turmoil'. But Mr Healey said ‘I recognise there are fierce feelings and strong views but I don't recognise the description that reform is in turmoil.' He added: ‘I am not convinced there is a need for any further delay to reorganisation.'
