Wales' current model of local government is ‘unsustainable' due to growing demand, financial pressures and workforce challenges, a report into the future of councils in the principality has warned.
The report, by an independent working group formed by the Welsh Local Government Association and think-tank Wales Centre for Public Policy, called for local government to be overhauled to become more ‘collaborative, preventative, outcome-focused, adaptive, financially empowered and digitally enabled'.
