Local government must have a key role in creating a modern, personalised NHS, according to a government minister. Surgeon-turned-health minister, Lord Darzi, said councils had to be included in the modernisation programme to create higher-quality, personalised services. An LGA spokesman said council leaders were in favour of the report, and were looking forward to the next phase which would investigate social care.
