Central Bedfordshire is wishing to appoint an Independent Chair of the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB). We are looking for an outstanding individual with strong leadership and influencing skills, an impressive track record of chairing complex, multi-agency boards. You will bring drive, enthusiasm, focus and challenge to the role to progress our key strategic objective of ensuring the safety and welfare of children within Central Bedfordshire. The successful candidate should be of sufficient standing and experience to command the support of all agencies. They will be an excellent communicator, with the presence, gravitas and ability to develop trust and respect of partners and to drive forward the ambitious work of the LSCB. Your background can be in a number of disciplines but you must be able to demonstrate a significant track record of operating at a senior level with a good understanding of safeguarding and a proven ability to work with a range of agencies, calling upon your personal authority and leadership skills. Remuneration – This position is paid on a contracted Independent Consultancy basis, at a rate of up to £600 per day; Fees will be reviewed on an annual basis. Duration – with immediate effect, for a term of three years (reviewed annually). Commitment – It is estimated that 20 working days per annum will be required to fulfil the requirements, including time allocated to prepare for meetings, scrutinising papers and other reports produced for meetings and liaising with partners as necessary.
