Former Conservative Party leader Lord Michael Howard has urged all councils to ‘do a Boris' and show they are open for business, despite the ‘perfect storm' of cuts and low growth hindering local economies.
Speaking at a Localis think-tank event this week, Lord Howard said that despite the tough economic climate, local authorities should see the current period as an opportunity to assume greater control of the growth agenda.
