London Councils has asked the Government to reconsider funding proposals it claims are 'overly complex' and economically harmful.

London Councils – the umbrella group representing the capital's 33 local authorities – has asked the Government to reconsider funding proposals it claims are ‘overly complex' and economically harmful.

Writing to MPs ahead of the second reading debate of the Local Government Finance Bill on 10 January, the group warned the planned system – which could come into force in April 2013 – denied local areas the freedom they needed to grow their business base.
