Local authorities in the capital are leading the way in urban recycling, according to new research by London Councils. The findings revealed that London sends less waste per head of population to landfill than the national average. ‘These figures explode the mayor's claims that London's waste system is nearing crisis,' said London Councils chairman, Merrick Cockell.
