Freedom of Information figures, show councils in London have paid out more than £200m in redundancies pay for the past two years.

Councils in London have paid out more than £200m in redundancies pay-outs over the past two years, according to figures from a Freedom of Information request.

The figures, obtained by the Evening Standard, show that over 10,000 staff have received exit packages since the general election. The investigation revealed that Tower Hamlets LBC has spent £15.8m on compulsory redundancies and exit packages, Lewisham LBC paid out £10.3m and Haringey LBC spent £12.4m.
