The current Conservative Group Leader at the LGA, David Shakespear, faced a challenge to his leadership in Buckinghamshire at the County AGM & formally takes over tomorrow.David Shakespear has had a tricky period in office at the LGA & there appears to be a general consensus that it is timely to look at a new direction over the period of the summer elections.It looks as though there are going to be at least 2 candidates to replace David as Conservative Group Leader - Cllr Gary Porter from South Holland, Chairman of the District Council grouping at the LGA & Cllr Robert Light from Kirklees, the former Leader there.Whatever happens there is going to be significant change at the LGA - the organisation will get smaller & has be be more focussed on what matters - it needs to ditch the old image of being bloated & out of date.
