Government officials have secured an overpayment deal with Newcastle under Lyme BC, after incorrectly paying it more than £2m of economic regeneration funding over two years. The Government has decided the council only needs to repay £970,000 of the local authority business growth incentive scheme (LAGBI) grant. ‘After negotiating with the Department of Communities and Local Government, we are now able to retain a total of more than £1m for the economic regeneration of our area,' said council leader, Simon Tagg
