National spending watchdog says the Jobcentre Plus network has successfully navigated the recession with innovative services.

The Jobcentre Plus network has successfully navigated the recession and continued to provide innovative services despite undergoing major reforms, a national spending watchdog has reported.

A study issued by the National Audit Office (NAO) on 13 February finds jobcentres coped with a massive rise in claimants – which saw applicant numbers increase from around 900,000 to 1.5 million between September 2008 and March 2009.
