Manchester City Council and the Greater London Authority landed joint third place in the Workplace Equality Index (WEI) top 100. The WEI represents the top 100 employees in the UK for lesbian and gay people, providing diversity in the workplace. Local authorities made up the largest representation of any sector with 23 making the top 100. Published by Stonewall, the WEI is now the ‘definitive national benchmarking exercise showcasing Britain's top employers for gay staff', according to Stonewall chief executive, Ben Summerskill.
