Tributes have been paid to regeneration expert and Factory Records founder, Tony Wilson, who died last week. Mr Wilson was an enthusiastic supporter of his native Manchester, and also spearheaded a campaign for a regional assembly in the North West. Manchester City Council's deputy leader, Cllr Jim Battle, said: ‘Mr Wilson generated pride in Manchester, not only within our city, but across the world. ‘His last major contribution to the city was as a guiding force in the Manchester International Festival held in July this year.'
