Mandated Family Group Decision Making is coming: How can we support councils?

Planned legislation will make the offer of Family Group Decision Making (FGDM) mandatory for all children at the pre-proceedings stage. This presents a key opportunity to offer evidence-based support proven to safely divert children from the care system and support them to remain with their family networks.

Our new report on families' experiences of FGCs – the most evidence-based and most common form of FGDM – shines a light on local authorities' current use of FGCs, families' views on them, and what helps and gets in the way of access.
