The UK's biggest private operator of traditional market sites has offered its promotions team to council retail managers. Town and Country Markets, a subsidiary of Wellington Market Company Plc, announced town centre managers could now access its full-service marketing team. The team's pitch was that it could help clients develop strategies and deliver campaigns which not only built customer footfall, but also encouraged shoppers to make purchases. It was established by the company's chief executive, Malcolm Ball, the man credited with turning around the fortunes of the well-known London wine tasting attraction, Vinopolis. Marketing manager, Phil Carey, said: ‘Not every market or town centre manager has the time or in-house resources to deliver a successful campaign, and we can help deliver what's needed during these challenging times. Our parent company has been running markets for centuries. Where we differ from external marketing agencies is that, with our operational experience, we are streets ahead in our understanding of the psyche of buyers and traders.'
