The mayor of London lacks the political leadership to rule the capital, chairman of London Councils Merrick Cockell has claimed. The mayor should have the clout to ‘look the chancellor straight in the eye and put the capital's case' for funding, but he has not. Writing in The MJ this week, Cllr Cockell, who is also leader of Kensington & Chelsea RLBC, says: ‘Where is the leadership London needs? ‘When did he ever sit down together with the police commissioner, chief of NHS London, the business community and even the London boroughs to discuss, indeed lead, the future of London?'
