'Mayors must focus on metropolitan areas' interests'

The cross-party UK Mayors Group should remain as an urban collective as the Government actively expands the number of directly-elected figureheads, the mayor of the Liverpool city region Steve Rotheram has told The MJ.

Mayor Rotheram said UK Mayors should stay focused on representing the interests of metropolitan areas because ‘we do need that voice in Whitehall'.
