MDC's chief priority

Wakefield MDC has launched its search for a new chief executive, following the departure of John Foster last year, after five years in the post.

The council, which received three stars, ‘improving strongly' in the recent CPA, is now aiming for four stars. Cllr Peter Box, leader since 1998, said Mr Foster had ‘done an excellent job' in helping to improve the council from its ‘poor' rating in 2002, but added: ‘At the time he joined, we needed a change agent. Now we've improved, we need a different style.'

A salary has not been specified. The council is being advised by consultant Tribal.

Harrogate BC is offering up to £110,000 for its next chief executive.
