Now I have been at the sceptic end of many modern ideas, including the great project to integrate European, but I have been particularly sceptical about the advance of global warming. There is no doubt that 7 billion humans have had a major impact on the worlds eco-system - that can not be argued, but there is a something of a leap of faith to make when reaching a "the end of the world is nigh" conclusion, which has meant huge budget increases for all public sector organisations to tackle the perceived problem.Armies of Climate Change Officers are appointed, which true to public sector form, set about justifying their existence and creating mini empires. Government does what it is good at & sets targets & performance measurements, with penalties for tardy local authorities.I am not convinced that all this expenditure will mean the world will last one extra day. However, there is a huge economic argument that says it is good to reduce power consumption & recycle waste - surely there is a much more honest argument to be had around the sheer economics of this whole debate than saving Polar Bears sitting atop shrinking ice floes?Surely this more honest argument actually achieves many of the objectives so beloved by the world of climate change zealots?
