The proposed merger between Suffolk and Cambridgeshire's fire and rescue services will not go ahead as planned.
A number of issues have made a full merger unviable at this time, such as the Government relaxing the criteria for triggering a referendum on proposed council tax increases for eight fire authorities. This has widened the gap between the council tax precepts for the fire services in both areas.
