Construction firm Carillion has now completed its takeover of rival Mowlem, creating one of the biggest building companies in the country. The new group has more than 40,000 staff, and a combined order book of around £9bn, including several major local government contracts. ‘Combining our skills and strengths will create a support services and construction company which I am confident will rank with the very best in the UK, in terms of both size and capability,' said chief executive John McDonough.
