East Hertfordshire DC and Stevenage BC have merged housing benefit, council tax, business rates and benefit fraud investigations in a bid to save £133,000 next year, and £173,000 every following year.
A joint committee of councillors from both authorities will oversee work on bringing the two teams together before the shared service become operational in December. Although East Hertfordshire's Hertford base will be the hub, many staff will be offered flexible and remote-working opportunities
