Councils on Merseyside are set to share services, including gritting, leisure, payroll and legal services, after a meeting of the city-region’s five chief executives, brokered by Liverpool council leader, Joe Anderson.

Councils on Merseyside are set to share services, including gritting, leisure, payroll and legal services, after a meeting of the city-region's five chief executives, brokered by Liverpool council leader, Joe Anderson.

Under proposals being considered, one authority would carry out work for other councils. Cllr Anderson said: ‘It's to do with saving money. If we can do this through procurement, we can save money.'
