Doncaster MBC has backed down on plans to cut all staff pay by 4%, after the directly-elected mayor, Peter Davies, criticised the proposals.

Despite running the authority, Mayor Davies had no control over plans to slash the pay bill because staff terms and conditions fell under the remit of the council's employee relations committee.
