Fantastic news in the fight against metal theft!The Richard Ottaway Private Members Bill this afternoon passed all its House of Commons stages & goes up to the House of Lords for its final Parliamentary stages.We have collectively spent a enormous amount of time & effort getting to this point & there is a collective sigh of relief at reaching this point - it could still fall in the Lords, but we will identify any potential opposition early on.Cllr Budge Wells & I in Central Beds are delighted that we have reached this point!The LGA Safer Neighbourhood Team - Helen Murray & Mark Norris in particular have put huge effort into supporting this change in legislation.There is still some risk in the Lords, but I think there is now real momentum behind taking real action against these vicious crime.Well done to everyone involved!!
