A very topical discussion in Central Bedfordshire on the future of education in the southern part of Bedfordshire.Planning for the future in educational is difficult when schools simply bang in an Academy application if there is debate which a particular school does not approve of.We are almost in a position (as an LEA) of saying to schools debate what you want to do & let us know what you would like us to do in support.Whilst the direction of travel is clear & federations, academies & mergers are the order of the day - the local authority still has a legal duty to educate children & maintain standards.But schools now have the money & the power to declare UDI if they do not like what we propose.
