Politics is integral to local democracy, local government minister John Healey has claimed. ‘Some people have been saying that we now have managers, not leaders, that there is no difference between Labour and Tory councils,' Mr Healey told The MJ. Speaking during the Labour Party Conference in Bournemouth, Mr Healey denied that was the case. ‘Politics and core values count. There is a distinct Labour local group,' he said.
