Procurement for a major Whitehall IT framework has been frozen, until ministers are satisfied value for money can be delivered, it has emerged.

The news follows the decision by the Government's chief procurement officer, Bill Crothers, to ask the Government Procurement Service – which manages suppliers for government – to assess how its current pre-approved supplier lists are operating.
