Whitehall is publicly testing a website to develop a central government portal which works as a single domain, much like the BBC's use of bbc.co.uk.
Government digital champion, Martha Lane Fox, recommended the prototype in last year's review of online services, subtitled ‘evolution, not revolution'. This urged use of ‘open, agile and cheaper digital technologies to deliver simpler and more effective digital services to users'.
