One of the country's biggest waste companies has described a government decision not to set councils recycling targets as ‘potentially short-sighted' and ‘beyond puzzling'
Peter Dickson, development director for Biffa, made the remarks in response to environment minister Richard Benyon's statement that councils should set their own environmental targets, despite a national target of recycling half of household waste by 2020, as required by the EU.
