A chief executive has accused the Government of ‘letting councils down' by failing to provide certainty about funding for duties starting from May. 

Some £34m of new burdens funding to cover the net costs of local authorities' additional enforcement responsibilities under the Renters' Rights Act has been allocated in 2026-27 and £16m in 2027-28.
