The MJ has teamed up with leading conference producer, Neil Stewart Associates (NSA), to launch a series of high-profile events during this year. Michael Burton, editor of The MJ, said: ‘There is a major social, political and economic agenda to cover and, in partnership with NSA, our events will be examining these key issues as they affect local government.' The first conference is on local strategic partnerships on 12 June, with keynote speaker, local government minister, John Healey. On 24 June, ‘Creating enterprising places' will look at ways of boosting local economies, while on 15 July, ‘Transforming social care' features social care minister, Ivan Lewis. The forthcoming local government White Paper will form the major content of an event on 17 July, ‘Empowerment in action', with communities secretary, Hazel Blears, as guest speaker. And on 13 November, Mr Healey will address The MJ/NSA event on economic prosperity looking at the sub-national review. All the events take place in London except for the last, which is in Manchester.
