Monks to step down as chief's post goes

The UK's longest-serving chief executive is to step down from his post, which is being scrapped on cost grounds.

David Monks, chief executive of Huntingdonshire DC, is to leave the council this year on a redundancy payout of £140,000, and his functions will be shared by existing directors.
