More than half of council officers believe the tough measures set out in the Comprehensive Spending Review will benefit local government in the long term, despite many fearing for their jobs.

A snap-shot poll of middle to senior-level council officers by the Municipal Year Book (MYB), carried out immediately after chancellor George Osborne's statement, garnered the views of more than 800 council officers working for authorities across the country.
