Mounting pressure forces Audit Commission to scale back fees

The Audit Commission will cut its fees by 5%-10% in 2011/12 and give additional rebates to the sector, ‘subject to affordability’, after consultation with the sector revealed widespread pressure to scale back fees.

Commission chairman, Michael O'Higgins, said the watchdog had listened to the audited bodies which claimed previous cuts were too small, given the financial pressures they were under.
