MPs call for oversight of Grenfell inquiry recommendations

MPs have called for an independent national oversight mechanism to ensure the recommendations made by the Grenfell Tower Inquiry are implemented.

MPs have called for an independent national oversight mechanism to ensure the recommendations made by the Grenfell Tower Inquiry are implemented.

In a letter to deputy prime minister Angela Rayner, the cross-party Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee called for the introduction of an independent mechanism to monitor the implementation of recommendations made by all public inquiries because Whitehall should not be ‘left marking its own homework'.
