An influential panel of MPs has attacked the consumer regulator for being 'timid and ineffective' in cracking down on predatory payday lenders.

An influential panel of MPs has attacked the consumer regulator for being 'timid and ineffective' in cracking down on predatory payday lenders.

A report by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) released on 31 May found that vulnerable borrowers are being charged an estimated £450m by lenders who target people on low incomes for loans that can spiral out of control.
