The Government has dismissed MPs' warnings that it risks being held to ransom by a small group of IT suppliers.
Responding to a report by the all-party public administration select committee, Government and IT – a recipe for rip-offs, the Cabinet Office claimed it was in the process of breaking the contractual lock-in under which major computer deals are placed with a small group of systems integrators.
