As a local MP, Nadine Dorries, gets a mixed press, but one thing I have observed since she was first elected to Mid-Bedfordshire is the passion she puts into issues of concern to her.She is without doubt a very able constituency MP, confirmed by her huge majority at the last election.I observed the proceedings in the House of Commons on Tuesday with mixed feelings - it was certainly a bear pit, but I thought that Ms Dorries had a very valid point which had simply been lost in a deal to keep the coalition together. At a local level we also see the trauma that follows tremendously difficult decisions that, usually, young women have to take when they unexpectedly fall pregnant.Surely it is right to separate the advice they receive from the providers of abortion services who it could be argued have an interest in a particular outcome.Either way the amendment was lost, but Nadine went up in my estimation as a result - one gutsy lady, for all her faults.
