The National Audit Office (NAO) has hosted the inaugural meeting of a panel tasked with assessing the value for money of local public services.

The Local Government Reference Panel is chaired by LGA chief executive Carolyn Downs, and will help the NAO fulfil its post-Audit Commission role in setting the framework for local financial audit – by providing advice and guidance on how local government works.
