The National Audit Office is conducting a short investigation into the use of so called 'gagging clauses' and special severance payments in four departments – including the DCLG.

Scrutiny was sparked by concerns raised last week at Public Accounts Committee hearings involving outgoing chief executive of NHS England, Sir David Nicholson.
