As the NHS embraces a neighbourhood-based model of care, local authority public health teams have an opportunity to emerge as indispensable strategic partners.

This is good for local authorities. The involvement of public health teams will enhance the influence councils have over local NHS strategy for years to come. Their work will also help embed attention to the wider determinants of heath, so many of which fall within the control of local government.
