The Government has given the green light for another 12 councils to capitalise assets in order to tackle equal pay settlements.

Local government minister, Bob Neill, this week approved requests from the councils to borrow against or sell assets worth up to £200m during the current financial year, to meet their equal pay commitments. The local authorities include Birmingham City Council, Dorset CC and Sefton MBC.
