Local government minister, Bob Neill, has invited applications for the latest round of equal pay capitalisation directions – but has warned only authorities which desperately need the cash will be considered.

Local government minister, Bob Neill, has invited applications for the latest round of equal pay capitalisation directions – but has warned only authorities which desperately need the cash will be considered.

Mr Neill announced on 25 July that he was taking applications for capitalisation permissions – which allow councils to borrow against, or sell, their assets to help cover backdated equal pay claims.
