The net zero realist

Housing remains one of the greatest strains on council finances and the Government’s public promises tend toward the unrealistic, but one housing director in Essex is turning that around. Paul Marinko reports

The Government appears to have painted itself into a corner with its housebuilding and net zero pledges.

Very few expect it to build 1.5 million new homes during this electoral term or to achieve its carbon reduction targets.
